Tejano singer Ram Herrera shares emotional message to fans from hospital bed

Herrera gives update on his health

SAN ANTONIO – Popular Texas Tejano singer Ram Herrera, 57, sent an emotional message to fans on Sunday via Facebook.

Herrera is considered a Tejano music legend, having won numerous awards throughout his career, including a Lifetime Achievement Award and Male Entertainer of the Year award from the Tejano Music Association.

"I am very ill. I have a collapsed lung. I have an infection in my knee that they fixed up. My blood is septic, and my heart has some damage,” Herrera relays in the video.

Herrera is recovering at Mission Trail Baptist Hospital in San Antonio after being admitted for pneumonia and a collapsed lung.

Herrera ends the video saying, “I want you to know that I’m going to pull through and I’ll be back to work soon.”
