SAN ANTONIO – The highly-anticipated adaptation of Stephen King’s "It" is set to wake a sleepy box office when it debuts this Friday.
"It" already has shattered several records: "It" has now become the top horror film pre-seller in history, beating 2011’s “Paranormal Activity 3”, and is now the top pre-seller among September releases -- surpassing"Sully" from 2016, according to Variety.

The film could also become the biggest September opening of all time if it passes the $60 million mark, Variety said. “Hotel Transylvania 2” currently owns the record with a $48 million debut.

"It" is based on Stephen King's 1986 novel of the same name. The movie is the story of seven children in Derry, Maine, who are terrorized by an evil clown. According to reports, a second film is already in the works.
"It" opens in roughly 4,000 theaters and has an incredible approval rating of 90% on Rotten Tomatoes. It's projections continue to rise and is now likely to make near $70 million in its opening week.
Also entering theaters this weekend is the romantic comedy "Home Again" starring Reese Witherspoon which has an approval rating of just 33% on Rotten Tomatoes.
The film's premise is about a single mom whose life is upended when she allows three young guys to move in. The movie is likely to make around $10-12 million according to estimates.
