Mother warns about limos during prom season

Woman booked limo from Texas' Finest Concierge Service, never heard from company

With beautiful table decorations, a cute prince and princess and a limousine ride with her full court, Nadine San Miguel's quinceneara was just about perfect. But turning 15 was nearly a disaster.

Nadine's mother originally contracted with Texas' Finest Concierge Service and Marty Vara for the limo service.

Then as the event grew closer, Dorothy Rodriguez said she could not find Vara.
"He never returned any of my calls, none of my texts, nothing and still to this day, nothing," Rodriguez said. "(I) gave him a $200 deposit and no services were rendered."

At the last minute she found a replacement.

Now she wants to warn others to be careful choosing a limousine service for special occasions.

"They need to be stopped," Rodriguez said. "It's not right. It's awful. It was an awful feeling, oh my gosh. I was on the verge of tears."

The San Antonio Better Business Bureau's Kristi Pena advises customers to research limo companies before booking, look at how many complaints are out there and to watch the fine print about fees and scheduling.

"Most of the complaints that we see have to do with scheduling," Pena said. "Some pricing but mostly focusing on scheduling."

Elegant Limousine and Charter has been around for 15 years.

President George Mery's advice to customers is to look at reviews and be hands-on.

"Go see the car, go visit the company and get comfortable," Mery said.

And comfortable is what most celebrants want to be on their big day.
