Elf Louise released from San Antonio hospital

Louise Locker, nonprofit founder, hospitalized since Christmas Eve

SAN ANTONIO – Louise Locker, better known to San Antonio as Elf Louise, has been released from a San Antonio hospital.

Locker, 63, had been admitted to Northeast Baptist Hospital Sunday night, suffering from what was described as a "heart related issue."

She underwent a heart procedure Monday morning.

In an update to her Facebook profile page Wednesday night, Locker wrote, "Home. At last."

She continued on, writing "I'll know in a couple of weeks if my heart has healed and begun working properly again. Thank you so very, very much for all the love, support and prayers. It means the world to me."

Locker created the Elf Louise Christmas Project in 1969, which provides toys to underprivileged children in San Antonio. This year, Elf Louise provided toys and presents to more than 4,600 families during the holiday.
