Man accused of stealing teen's Air Jordan shoes at gunpoint

Police: Raymond Perez, 18, contacted victim through Facebook

An 18-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the robbery of a teen who said he had his expensive Air Jordan basketball shoes taken at gunpoint.

An arrest warrant affidavit stated that Raymond Perez responded to a posting on Facebook by a 15-year-old boy who had a pair of Air Jordan Raptor 7 shoes for sale. The athletic shoes sell for as much as $500-$600 on the Internet.

The teen told San Antonio police that he made plans to meet Perez last Thursday at an address in the 100 block of Tipton Avenue, the affidavit stated.

He said he and a friend went to the location and met with Perez, who asked to try on the shoes.

The boy said Perez then pulled out a gun, pointed it at him and ran away with the shoes, the affidavit stated.

Police investigated and obtained a cell phone number that Perez had given to the teen, as well as information from his Facebook account, to identify him as the suspect, the affidavit stated.

They said they also discovered that Perez lived a few doors down from the site where the teen was robbed, the affidavit stated.

Perez was arrested Wednesday on a charge of aggravated robbery.
