Family members identify man killed in SW Bexar Co. shooting

Investigators still searching for shooter

BEXAR COUNTY, Texas – Bexar County investigators are searching for the person who shot two people Thursday night, killing one and injuring the other.

Members of the community where the shooting happened on Aliann and Macdona-LaCoste roads are identifying both of those victims.

Eva Garcia awoke around 8:30 p.m. Thursday to loud popping noises coming from the house next door.

"I thought it was fireworks, you know? My friend said, 'No, it's gunshots,' and I heard about five or six," Garcia said.

Before she knew it, her street was lined with sheriff's deputies and ambulances. Fellow community members told Garcia a shooter had killed her neighbor, 27-year-old Joshua Vidales, and injured his friend.

One of Vidales' family members, who did not want to be identified, said the shooter was after Vidales' friend, Rolland Arumbala, who lives at the home where the shooting happened.

That source told KSAT that Arumbala was shot in the leg and is still hospitalized. They said Vidales intervened during the altercation and ended up with a fatal gunshot wound to the head.

"I feel real bad because he was our neighbor and he was such a good guy," Garcia said in tears. "Joshua was a wonderful, wonderful guy and that was the only son his mom has."

While the tight-knit community mourns the loss, investigators search for the shooter, who community members say may have fled to Mexico.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Bexar County Sheriff's Office at 210-335-6300.
