Man arrested in fatal shooting in Whataburger parking lot

Alejandro Salazar, 25, in custody for murder of Kelvin Brown

SAN ANTONIO – San Antonio police arrested Alejandro Salazar, 25, Thursday in the shooting death of Kelvin Brown.

Police said Salazar shot and killed Brown, 44, in March 2014 at a Whataburger parking lot at Broadway and Loop 410.

Brown was in the parking when a car carrying Salazar pulled up. Someone in the car shouted something at Brown, who then reportedly asked them to repeat it. That's when Salazar allegedly shot Brown. He died at the scene.

"There was no known connection between the two. I'm told the victim wasn't even from San Antonio, so there was no connection whatsoever to the suspect," San Antonio Police Department Sgt. Javier Salazar said.

Police credit the arrest to a reported vanity license plate on the vehicle Salazar was in the night of the shooting.

He was taken into custody at a home without incident.
