Suspects who killed man leaving Fiesta Carnival in 1987 still unknown

David Estrada, 21, stabbed to death during fight

SAN ANTONIO – A fist fight between four men ended in a stabbing that left one man dead -- a murder that has remained unsolved since it happened.

On April 26, 1987, David Estrada, 21, and a friend were walking to his parked car after attending the Fiesta Carnival. They got into a fist fight with two other men.

Police said the fight stopped when Estrada and his friend crossed to the other side of the street, still walking towards his parked car.

"The two suspects came at them from behind," police said and one of the suspects stabbed Estrada before running off.

"Estrada's friend started carrying him until a car came along and took them to the emergency room of Santa Rosa Hospital, where Estrada later died," police said.

SAPD's Cold Case Squad is still investigating the murder.
