SAN ANTONIO – On Tuesday, Six Flags Fiesta Texas announced the park is closing the classic Scooby-Doo Ghostbusters ride on Jan. 7 after 16 years in service at the Fiesta Bay Boardwalk location.

First unveiled in 2002, the "Scooby-Doo" ride served as an interactive family-friendly ride for up to four passengers.

The ride allowed its riders to compete with one another in zapping designated targets and help everyone’s beloved cartoon Great Dane get rid of ghostly inhabitants inside the haunted mansion for a winning score.

Many who experienced the interactive ride will remember boarding the Mystery Machine carts and grabbing hold of the ghost zapper fright-light guns to blast targets as they appear in front of them.

Typically, Scooby-Doo and his gang solve the mystery, but this time Six Flags Fiesta Texas is giving no clues as to what will replace the ride only saying: “The current location will become the future home to the latest dark ride innovation later in 2018.”

For now, Fiesta Texas guests have less than two weeks to enjoy the "Scooby-Doo" ride before they say, “Scooby-Doo, where are you?”
