According to police, one of the victims had got into an altercation with a group of men over a cigarette. That’s when, police say, one of the suspects pulled out a handgun and pointed it at the victim.  Another man then approached, trying to intervene, police said.

Authorities say after the initial confrontation, the groups separated. Both victims went to a nearby food truck while the suspects went into the food mart. But after the suspects exited the food mart, they again confronted the victims and assaulted them, one of the suspects using a handgun, police said. As passersby started to approach, the suspects fled the area. They have not been found.

Anyone with any knowledge of the assault is urged to call Crime Stoppers at (210) 224-STOP.

Tips can also be texted to CRIMES (274637) or by visiting the Crime Stoppers website.

Crime Stoppers will pay up to $5,000 for information that leads to an arrest.

If found, they will be charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, police said.
