Man, 22, arrested in series of vehicle burglaries in Hays County, deputies say

HAYS COUNTY, Texas – A 22-year-old Hays County man is now behind bars after deputies said he was involved in a series of vehicle burglaries and had 15 outstanding warrants.

Jeremy Rasco was arrested Thursday, Jan. 7, on a search warrant at a motel room in Austin after the Hays County Sheriff’s Office received several reports of vehicle burglaries in the area of Quail Run in San Marcos.

Deputies said at the same time of Rasco’s arrest, they recovered stolen firearms and other stolen property. There were two men and two young children in the motel room at the time of the arrest, according to the HCSO.

Officials said Rasco faces a string of charges, including burglary of vehicles, theft of firearms, credit and debit card abuse and theft. Deputies said he also had outstanding charges in Navarro County.

Rasco is being held in the Hays County Jail for 24 charges on a $100,000 bond.

The sheriff’s office is urging residents in the area to be cautious of what they leave in their vehicles and to make sure they are locked at all times.
