5 tips for a fun Fiesta with the family

KSAT talks with the experts - parents!

SAN ANTONIO – San Antonio’s biggest celebration is an annual tradition and often a family affair.

But how do you make sure it’s a good time when you’ve got kids in tow? KSAT 12 asked parents at Fiesta De La Familia at St. Gregory the Great Catholic School and Church on Sunday for their best tips.

  • THE MORE THE MERRIER - “You know, we got four, and it’s just we got to keep an eye on everybody. And coming out with big family, it’s easier to keep track of everybody. Everybody watches everybody.” - John Hernandez
  • BEAT THE HEAT - “Dress for the weather - definitely want the kids to stay cool. Provide shade; maybe bring an umbrella, a hat, sunscreen, sunglasses. And bring lots of water to stay hydrated.” Otherwise? “Then your kids will be cranky. I know from experience.” - Natalie Cuellar
  • BE READY FOR THE CRASH - “You have to remember the stroller so you can put them in for a nap. Strollers, fans and tons of snacks and drinks.” - Erma Rocha
  • DON’T SWEAT EVERY CENT- “You know, don’t make a big deal about what you’re spending. The important thing is that you’re doing something as a family and just having a great time.” - Elaine Hernandez
  • CHOOSE YOUR EVENTS WISELY - “Especially those events where it’s - you’re known to go out and drink. You can take your kids, but we’re not staying late. Once it gets dark, especially, we’re out.” - Claudia Arellano
