After learning of the social media activity, Highlands High School added more officers on campus Friday out of precaution.

“Please know we take such social media activity seriously, and our district police officers investigate fully to ensure the safety and well-being of students and staff,” school officials said.

School officials urged parents to consider having conversations about “responsible use of social media” going forward and assured families that safety is a top priority.

Details about the student in custody are limited and it’s unknown if they will face any charges.

We’ll bring more updates to this story as they become available.
