John Jay High School student fatally stabbed at West Side restaurant identified by medical examiner

Male attacker fled after stabbing; no arrest has yet been made

An 18-year-old John Jay High School student who was fatally stabbed at a West Side restaurant has been identified by the Bexar County Medical Examiner.

Joshua Eugene Kinnaman died from a stab wound, the ME confirmed.

His death has been ruled as a homicide.

At last check, no arrests have been made in connection with his death.

An 18-year-old student at John Jay High School has died after he was stabbed during a fight at a West Side restaurant, according to San Antonio police.

A preliminary report from San Antonio police states that the student, who has not been identified, was stabbed on the right side of his torso before 2 p.m. on Tuesday in the 7700 block of Marbach Road.

Police said the student and another male were walking out of the restaurant when a fight erupted. At some point, the other male turned around, pulled out a knife and stabbed the 18-year-old, police said.

The 18-year-old was taken to the hospital, where he was later pronounced dead. His attacker fled in an unknown direction.

The restaurant is located across the street from the Northside ISD campus. An NISD spokesperson said the campus was on a modified lockdown for a brief period as a result.

This investigation remains ongoing.
