A $1.8 million donation from the McCombs Foundation and Spurs Give made plans for the court possible.

“We are grateful to the McCombs family and Spurs Give,” said Andres Andujar, Hemisfair CEO. “Through the creation of the Tower Park vision and use plan, we heard from the community that a shaded basketball court would be used and loved, and we can deliver thanks to the funders’ dedication to enhancing recreational opportunities for our residents.”

The ‘Red & Charline McCombs Community Court’ and the surrounding areas encourage the community to gather and participate in physical activity, Hemisfair said in the release.

The shaded court is easily accessible for downtown San Antonio residents, according to the release.

Construction for the basketball court will begin in the spring of 2024.
