Burn Bans (KSAT)

According to the Texas A&M Forest Service website, Bexar County and the following surrounding counties are under a burn ban:

  • Frio
  • Guadalupe
  • Wilson

Even though Bexar County is under a burn ban, certain fireworks are still allowed in the county.

However, fireworks classified as “skyrockets with sticks” or “missiles with fins” are restricted within the Bexar County limit.

Here’s a list of counties that allow fireworks within county limits:

  • Atascosa County: According to the fire marshal, fireworks are only allowed within county limits but not city limits.
  • Bandera County: The sheriff’s office said the county permits fireworks but advises ”exercising extreme caution due to severe fire conditions.”
  • Guadalupe County: According to the fire marshal, fireworks are allowed outside of the city limits.
  • Medina County: The sheriff’s office posted on social media that bonfires must be extinguished no later than one hour before sunset. The county does not have a fireworks ban, however, fireworks are not allowed within city limits.
  • Wilson County: The sheriff’s office said fireworks are permitted in the county except for “skyrockets with sticks” or “missiles with fins.”

Certain cities have their own rules regarding fireworks.

Here’s a list of cities that do not allow fireworks within city limits.

To check the rules where you live, contact your fire marshal’s office.
