Bexar County to open warming centers for upcoming hard freeze

Warming centers operate from Jan. 20 to Jan. 22

BEXAR COUNTY, Texas – Bexar County officials are opening five warming centers next week with the expected drop in temperatures, according to a news release.

The centers will operate from 7 p.m. Monday, Jan. 20, to 10 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 22, the Bexar County Office of Emergency Management announced.

Residents seeking shelter are encouraged to bring essentials, including medications, clothes, and other personal supplies.

Service animals are permitted at all locations, the county said.

Below are the locations for the five warming centers:

  • Light House Christian Temple at 8201 Old Pearsall Road, San Antonio, Texas, 78252
  • VFW Post 7108 at 8795 FM 1560, San Antonio, Texas, 78254
  • St. Padre Pio Catholic Church at 3843 Bulverde Parkway, San Antonio, Texas, 78259
  • Christ the King Lutheran Church at 1129 Pat Booker Road, Universal City, Texas, 78148
  • Elmendorf Community Library at 203 Bexar Avenue, Elmendorf, Texas, 78238
