Horses key part of therapy for children in Bexar County juvenile justice program
SAN ANTONIO โ For the children who qualify for participation in a Bexar County Juvenile Probation Department equine therapy program, it is a unique and often first-time opportunity to work hands-on with horses. The program is called โChildren and Horses Always Produce Successโ or CHAPS. โIt is a unique and wonderful way to bring about change in the childrenโs lives,โ said Chief Juvenile Probation Officer Jill Mata recently as she watched several children groom and feed horses. The program is available to children who reside at the Krier Juvenile Correctional Facility. โThey have to sort of earn their way into the program and be a good candidate for the program,โ Mata explained.

Once these irregularities were uncovered, the practice was immediately put to a halt and the supervisor has received appropriate discipline. Assistant juvenile probation supervisor arrested on suspicion of DWI
SAN ANTONIO - An assistant supervisor with the Bexar County Juvenile Probation Department was arrested late Friday night on suspicion of driving while intoxicated with a blood alcohol content exceeding 0.15, online records and a spokeswoman from the agency confirmed Monday to KSAT. Christopher Carrasco, 45, was arrested late Friday night in the 500 block of East Market Street, records show. Lynne Wilkerson, chief probation officer for the Bexar County Juvenile Probation Department, said Carrasco, who is an assistant supervisor for the residential services unit, had his job-related driving privileges suspended while the case is pending.
