Texas Republicans rally their base at CPAC, but draw criticism over Hungarian prime minister’s appearance

Viktor Orbán appeared at the convention in Dallas after saying last week that Europeans “do not want to become peoples of mixed race.” Texas officials attending, though, stayed focused on criticizing Democrats.

Only one Texas Republican in Congress voted to protect marriage equality

U.S. Rep. Tony Gonzales was the only Texas Republican to vote for a bill seeking to codify the right to same-sex marriage. The measure passed the House, but its fate in the Senate is uncertain.

Despite an attack on the U.S. Capitol, here are the 17 Texas Republicans who still voted to overturn election results

However, despite all of this, 147 Republican lawmakers still stood by their decision to stand in the way of certifying the presidential election, and perpetuate a lie that ultimately ended in violence. Of course, after the fascist mob was cleared from the U.S. Capitol, the House then reconvened and rejected the Arizona challenge by a vote of 303-121 and the Pennsylvania challenge by a vote of 282-138. Here are the 17 Texas Republicans who, despite the first non-peaceful transfer of power in 220 years because of Trump’s baseless rhetoric, still voted to sustain one or both objections:U.S. Sen. Assclown Alert: Egging on Trump's dictatorial tendencies with U.S. Rep. Brian Babin

Twitter / Brian BabinLook, we get it. Trump doesn’t like to be criticized, and Republican officials are averse to his Twitter lashings and super-mean nicknames. (They’ve got a Walmart Supercenter, you know. )Babin didn’t join his GOP brethren in staying silent as Trump falsely crowned himself election victor early Wednesday while multiple battleground states continued to count votes. No sirree. I trust in God, but I don’t trust Dems,” Babin wrote.

Texas politicians fueled criticism of 'Cuties.' Now, Netflix is facing criminal charges in a small East Texas county.

click to enlarge Courtesy Photo / NetflixA grand jury in a small East Texas county has indicted media giant Netflix for promoting, a French film about an 11-year-old Senegalese immigrant who joins a dance group. In Texas, a corporation convicted of a felony can face a fine of up to $20,000, according to the penal code. GOP lawmakers across the country have criticized the movie, claiming it sexualizes young girls and exploits child actors. Babin publicly decried the French film as child pornography, and Cruz sent a letter to the U.S. attorney general asking him to prosecute Netflix. The indictment, handed down late last month, came out of Tyler County — though the film has no apparent ties to Texas.

Cuties on Netflix. A grand jury in a small East Texas county has indicted media giant Netflix for promoting "Cuties," a French film about an 11-year-old Senegalese immigrant who joins a dance group. The indictment, handed down late last month, came out of Tyler County — though the film has no apparent ties to Texas. “After hearing about the movie Cuties and watching it, I knew there was probable cause to believe it was criminal," Lucas Babin said in the release.

But Burgess suggested that he didn’t think that Trump was hiding the danger the virus posed. Burgess said he even applied to be a part of the clinical trials for the vaccine on the National Institutes of Health website. “I do think there will be an available vaccine in the month of October, late in the month of October,” Burgess said.
