Oregon voters have rejected a gas tax increase passed last year by Democratic lawmakers.

Tina Kotek has won election as Oregon’s next governor, extending Democratic control of the state’s top political office for at least four more years.

Oregon is typically known as a bastion of West Coast liberalism where Democrats are easily elected and a Republican hasn’t served as governor since the 1980s.
