Flaco Jimenez, the legendary accordionist from San Antonio who won multiple Grammys and helped expand the popularity of conjunto, Tejano and Tex-Mex music, has died.

Each year since 2000, the Library of Congress has selected influential songs and albums to be preserved in the National Recording Registry. This year, three Latino artists were inducted — two of them with deep roots in Latino culture and South Texas.

Music by Selena, Freddy Fender, Vicente Fernández, Gloria Estefan, Linda Ronstadt, and others are on the list of songs, sounds, and albums by Latino voices that have been nominated by a San Antonio lawmaker for preservation in the National Recording Registry at the Library of Congress.
