Designer Ralph Lauren went big for his first Los Angeles fashion show, staging a sumptuous display of his well-honed ethos of casual luxury, with strong Western accents like cowboy hats and boots, against a setting sun at the grand Huntington Library, Art Museum, and Botanical Gardens in San Marino, California, near Los Angeles.

Even more chaotic than usual, Globes still had their moments
(NBC via AP)In the opening moments of a Golden Globes night even more chaotic and confounding than usual, co-host Tina Fey raised a theoretical question: “Could this whole night have been an email?” Only the next three hours would tell. Or Chloé Zhao, making history as the first woman of Asian descent to win best director (and the first woman since 1984.) AdOf course, there were the usual confounding results and baffling snubs, compounded here by some epic Zoom fails. ZHAO MAKES HISTORYWhen Zhao won best director for her haunting and elegant “Nomadland,” she was the first woman of Asian descent to win that award. It was updated on March 3, 2021, to correct the nationality of director of “Nomadland.” Chloe Zhao is Chinese, not Asian American.
Director Colin Trevorrow Reveals the Official Title of 'Jurassic World 3'
The Jurassic World franchise is currently in its "Man creates dinosaurs, dinosaurs eat man" phase, with the forthcoming third installment hopefully set to show, at long last, women inheriting the Earth. 2018's Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom ended with dinosaurs unleashed upon our world, teeing up one hell of a follow-up. Now, Jurassic World director Colin Trevorrow -- who is returning to helm JW3 and co-wrote the screenplay with Battle at Big Rock's Emily Carmichael -- has unveiled the movie's title. "Day One," Trevorrow captioned a photo from set which reveals the official subtitle for the threequel: Jurassic World: Dominion. Jurassic World: Dominion is set to open in theaters on June 11, 2021.
Academy Awards 2020: ‘Parasite’ makes history, while acting awards follow the script
"Parasite" made history at the 92nd Academy Awards, becoming the first non-English language film to win best picture, while adding honors for director Bong Joon Ho, original screenplay and the renamed "international feature film" category. The four acting wins, meanwhile, followed the script, given the array of honors handed out in the run-up to Oscar night. Both wins were widely anticipated, given the array of honors the two have earned in the run-up to Oscar night. Suspense over the best picture race remains at the heart of this year's event, based on the consistency among acting honors in the buildup to movie industry's biggest night. The awards have also reignited the debate about inclusion and diversity within the academy, which birthed the #OscarsSoWhite hashtag five years ago.
In a win for the world, ‘Parasite’ takes best picture Oscar
LOS ANGELES – Subtitle this: “Parasite” is the first non-English language film to win best picture in the 92-year history of the Academy Awards. Bong Joon Ho’s masterfully devious class satire took Hollywood’s top prize at the Oscars on Sunday night, along with awards for best director, best international film and best screenplay. In winning best adapted screenplay for his Nazi satire “Jojo Rabbit,” the New Zealand filmmaker Taika Waititi became the first indigenous director ever to win an Oscar. “Joker” composer Hildur Gudnadottir became only the third woman to ever win best original score. After a year in which women made significant gains behind the camera, no female directors were nominated for best director.
Laura Dern narrates 'Little Women' audiobook
NEW YORK, NY – Laura Dern likes the spoken word so much she even enjoys callbacks to re-record lines for her movies. Dern's memories of “Little Women” date back to around age 13, when she and her grandmother would read it aloud together and when Dern read the novel by herself. Like the March sisters, she was raised mostly by women; her parents, the actors Bruce Dern and Diane Ladd, divorced when she was little and she spent much of her time with her mother and grandmother. Filming the movie, and reading the audiobook, reminded her of her deep attachment to the fictional family, especially to Marmee. Her immersion in “Little Women” has her thinking about her family — one of her children read “Little Women” while Dern was working on the film last year — and how to include them in future audiobooks.
