Good dogs! 20 years of covering Westminster Kennel Club show

FILE - In this Feb. 12, 2008, file photo, Uno, a 15-inch beagle, poses with his trophy after winning Best in Show at the 132nd Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show at Madison Square Garden in New York. That’s when they normally cuddle up on the couch with their precious pooch to watch the Super Bowl of Dogs -- the Westminster Kennel Club show. For now, AP Baseball Writer Ben Walker and wife Ginger Tidwell share their fondest memories from the green carpet over 20 paws-itively wonderful years covering Westminster:___HE’S NUMERO UNO! A dog just being a dog ... and the crowd went crazy, hollering with every step and every bite. He’s won best in show three times at Westminster.

New this week: Foo Fighters, 'Malcolm & Marie' and Snoopy

Here’s a collection curated by The Associated Press’ entertainment journalists of what’s arriving on TV, streaming services and music platforms this week. Directed by Goro Miyazaki (Hayao Miyazaki’s son), “Earwig” follows a 10-year-old orphan girl who gets some unconventional adoptive parents. — AP Film Writer Lindsey BahrMUSIC— Foo Fighters’ 10th album was originally supposed to be released last year but was one of many projects delayed due to the coronavirus pandemic. Fela’s son and grandson, Femi Kuti and Made Kuti, will release a double album called “Legacy +” on Friday. Ad— “Peanuts” puppy Snoopy gets top billing in “The Snoopy Show,” an Apple TV+ animated series debuting Friday on the streaming service.

'Peanuts' pen pals find comfort in correspondence

In this Dec. 20, 2020, still image taken from video, Wesley Morgan, a 32-year-old in Denver, shows a letter from one of his Peanuts pen pals. After being furloughed from his job at the Denver International Airport, Morgan began writing to over 500 older adults living in isolation due to the pandemic. It’s from Wesley Morgan, a 32-year-old fan of the comic strip “Peanuts” who’s been sending Snoopy-themed cards and letters across the country to ease the solitude of older adults in isolation due to the coronavirus. Many of them have become regular correspondents — his “Peanuts” pen pals, as he calls them. She and Morgan began writing each other so frequently that they recently switched to email to speed the correspondence.

Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade takes flight in virus times

The Boss Baby balloon is deflated as it ends its appearance during the modified Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade in New York, Thursday, Nov. 26, 2020. The annual parade goes on but only after great changes as compared to previous years due to the current deadly pandemic. (AP Photo/Craig Ruttle)NEW YORK – The balloons were in the sky and the marching bands took to the streets for the annual Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade on Thursday, but coronavirus restrictions meant it was without the throngs of people usually scrambling for a view. Even with the pandemic protocols, the fact that the parade took place made it a rare festivity in a city that has seen most of its major events cancelled over the last year because of the virus. The parade organizers recognized that reality, including representatives of some of the New York City parades that hadn't been able to happen — the St. Patrick’s Day Parade, the Mermaid Parade, the Puerto Rican Day Parade and NYC Pride March.

Macy's plans smaller but camera-ready Thanksgiving parade

FILE - In this Nov. 23, 1995 file photo Woody Woodpecker leads a line of other balloons and floats into New York's Times Square during the 69th annual Macy's Thanksgiving Day parade. A Macy's Thanksgiving parade reimagined for the coronavirus pandemic will feature floats, performers and giant balloons parading along a one-block stretch of 34th Street in front of the retailer's flagship Manhattan store, Macy's officials announced Monday, Sept. 14, 2020. The spectacle will be broadcast as usual from 9 a.m. to noon Eastern time on NBC and will include both live and recorded elements, Macy's officials said. The 2 1/2-mile Thanksgiving parade route will be axed in favor of a short stroll for the cameras, Macy’s spokesperson Orlando Veras said. Mayor Bill de Blasio thanked Macy's officials for their effort to stage the parade despite COVID-19 restrictions.
