A bodyboarder was attacked by a great white shark in central California on Christmas Eve and died within minutes, official reports have concluded. Tomas Abraham Butterfield, 42, was bitten in the head, chest and shoulder in the Morro Bay attack and died from โcomplications of multiple penetrating blunt force traumatic injuries,โ according to a coroner's report, The Tribune of San Luis Obispo County reported Tuesday. A piece of what appeared to be a shark's tooth was found on his body, the Tribune said, citing a report by a sheriff's detective that was among documents released to the paper under a public records request.

A California prison guard was arrested this week on suspicion of beating a Wells Fargo branch manager and calling him a racial slur after being asked to wear a mask inside the bank, police said. James Allen Jones, Jr., 50, was arrested at his job at the California Men's Colony in San Luis Obispo on Tuesday following a 10-day investigation into the Sept. 3 attack. The bank manager told the San Luis Obispo Tribune that a customer became upset when he asked the man to put on a mask, as required by local health orders, called him a racist slur and caused a commotion in the lobby.

(CNN) - The last of the three infamous Chowchilla school bus kidnappers remaining in prison, Fred Woods, will remain behind bars at the California Men's Colony in San Luis Obispo. In 1976, Woods, along with Richard and James Schoenfeld, kidnapped 26 children and their bus driver in Chowchilla, California. Woods was denied parole Tuesday for the 17th time, according to information provided by the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation. On Tuesday's decision, she said she "doesn't give much thought on Fred Woods."
