“The Crown” returns Wednesday after a two-year absence from Netflix.

On the same day as British Prime Minister Liz Truss resigned from office after serving for only six weeks, Netflix decided to choose chaos and drop the trailer for the new season of “The Crown.”

“The Crown” will return to its Netflix throne in early November.

“The Crown,” Netflix’s acclaimed series about Queen Elizabeth II and her family, has paused production due to the monarch’s death.

It was TV’s biggest night on Sunday as the Emmy Awards took place, and it finally felt like the first awards show since the pandemic started that didn’t totally seem like it was happening during a global pandemic.

It definitely wasn’t the Pandemmys, or the Zoomemmys, or whatever you want to call last year’s virtual Emmy ceremony.

“The Crown” is the winner of the best drama series Emmy Award, giving Netflix its first top series win.

The streaming giant scooped up 20 small-screen nods — nearly three times as many as its closest competitor, HBO, and beating the 17 TV nominations it got last year. Streaming newcomer HBO Max scored two nominations with “The Flight Attendant,” a best comedy TV berth and also earned “The Big Bang Theory” veteran Kaley Cuoco her first Globe nod. Little-known Pop TV earned five nominations — all for the Canadian comedy “Schitt’s Creek,” which swept the comedy Emmy Awards last year. Ad“The Great” now faces “The Flight Attendant,” “Schitt’s Creek,” “Emily in Paris” and “Ted Lasso” for bragging rights to best comedy TV series.

LONDON – Netflix has “no plans” to add a disclaimer to “The Crown” stating that its lavish drama about Britain's royal family is a work of fiction. In a statement Saturday, Netflix said it has always presented the drama, as just that — a drama. “We have always presented The Crown as a drama — and we have every confidence our members understand it’s a work of fiction that’s broadly based on historical events," it said. “The Crown” creator Peter Morgan, whose work also includes recent-history dramas “The Queen” and “Frost/Nixon,” has defended his work, saying it is thoroughly researched and true in spirit. Charles Spencer, Diana’s brother, was one who called on Netflix to add a disclaimer.

NEW YORK The Crown has found its Princess Diana. Elizabeth Debicki will play the Princess of Wales in seasons five and six of The Crown, the Netflix series announced Sunday. Debicki will join a new cast for the series that includes Imelda Staunton as Queen Elizabeth and Lesley Manville as Princess Margaret. Emma Corrin is playing Diana on the dramas upcoming fourth season, but Debicki will take on the part for what's sure to be the character's most dramatic chapters. Princess Dianas spirit, her words and her actions live in the hearts of so many, Debicki said on Twitter.

The Netflix series that follows the life of Queen Elizabeth II is getting a sixth season after creator Peter Morgan changed his mind about the season five finale, multiple outlets report. Morgan's statement reiterates what the Netflix show's executive producer, Suzanne Mackie, said earlier this year about the possibility of covering Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's story on the show. "I'm greatly honored, Staunton told ET in May. Since then, ET has learned that British actress Lesley Manville will take over the role of Princess Margaret in season five from Helena Bonham Carter. Princess Diana won't just be returning to our screens via the new season of The Crown, as Kristen Stewart will play the Princess of Wales in the drama Spencer, ET can confirm. Based on the timeframe, Prince William and Prince Harry would still be young boys in the pic. Larran previously helmed 2016's Jackie, for which Natalie Portman earned a Best Actress Oscar nomination. Kristen can be many things, and she can be very mysterious and very fragile and ultimately very strong as well...
