Texas Exes send off new UT freshmen
Before the pandemic, the send-off had been a yearly tradition held at the International Bank of Commerce on Alton Gloor Boulevard. Diego, a graduate of Veterans Memorial Early College High School, said heโs in a pre-business program where he wonโt declare a major until sophomore year. UT was his main post-secondary choice because his older brother Alex went there and majored in physics. โWeโre very proud of both of them and theyโre going to a very good school,โ their mother Claudia Barrajas said. UT President Jay Hartzell made the trip to Brownsville for the send-off.

Witten becoming high school coach after 2nd NFL retirement
ARGYLE, Texas โ Jason Witten is becoming a high school football coach after his second retirement from the NFL. The 11-time Pro Bowl tight end was named Monday as the new head coach at Liberty Christian School in Argyle, Texas, which is only about 30 miles from the headquarters of the Dallas Cowboys. The non-denominational private school said in a tweet that it was excited to name the former Cowboys tight end and โlong-time Liberty parentโ as its head coach. AdA third-round pick out of Tennessee in 2003, Witten ended his career fourth on the NFL career list with 1,228 catches. Heโs second among tight ends to Tony Gonzalez, who is also the only other tight end with more yards (15,127 to 13,046).

Witten had 110 catches in 2012, which was the NFL season record for a tight end for six years before Philadelphia's Zach Ertz grabbed 116.

A new documentary on Showtime, "Play It Forward," follows the former Pro Bowler on and off the field. The candid story is told through Gonzalez and his older brother, Chris, who captured draft day 1997 before Tony joined the Chiefs. Gonzalez, who is also an analyst for "The NFL Today" on CBS, joins "CBS This Morning" to discuss the new film.
