Burger beef: Two San Antonio restaurants in legal fight over use of ‘juicy’
SAN ANTONIO – Editor’s note: This story was published through a partnership between the San Antonio Business Journal and KSAT. Longhorn Cafe LLC sent a cease-and-desist letter to local restaurateur Andrew Weissman, owner of Mr. Juicy restaurants, demanding he stop using that name for his growing burger spots. The Longhorn Cafe’s menu touts the “Original Big Juicy” burger. The U.S. Patent and Trademark Office has “Original Big Juicy” and “Home of the Original Big Juicy” registered to Longhorn Cafe. Weissman said he has never had a customer or incident where Mr. Juicy was confused with Longhorn Cafe’s Original Big Juicy.
