SAN ANTONIO – An 18-wheeler crash has blocked a stretch of a Northeast Side highway access road early Friday morning.

The crash happened on the southbound access road at the Interstate 35 and Loop 410 split, not far from Rittiman Road.

A traffic lane is currently blocked because an 18-wheeler making a turn got caught on something as it was turning off the access road and crossing the railroad tracks, while heading toward some warehouses.

The big rig is presently on the tracks, causing a backup. There doesn’t appear to be any injuries.

At this time, it is not exactly clear why the accident occurred or how Union Pacific will deal with the 18-wheeler. Emergency crews are on scene.
