The Warrior Games Are Finally in San Antonio
The Warrior Games have finally made it to San Antonio — and 200+ veterans from across the country showed up ready to compete. The event, now 15 years strong, started as a resource for those wounded in combat but has grown to support vets battling cancer, MS, TBI, PTSD, and more. A dozen sports are on the schedule this week, from powerlifting and wheelchair basketball to the newest addition: pickleball. Navy vet Matthew Leon is proof of what's possible. After 20 years of service and a series of spinal injuries, doctors said his movement would never be the same — but this is his second time competing at the Warrior Games. "Adaptive sports have just been a lifesaver for me mentally and then physically," he said. The games are open and free to the public all week long.
