San Antonio taxi drivers are fighting to survive

San Antonio taxi drivers say they're being pushed out — waiting up to 10 hours at the airport just to get one passenger, and still struggling to make ends meet. With insurance costs up nearly 30% and city rates frozen at $2.70 per mile, drivers like Linda Thomas of Alert Taxi say the math simply doesn't add up anymore. Thomas and other drivers are now taking their fight to City Hall, pushing for a rate increase and even pursuing a grant to help keep their cabs on the road. Their message? They were here first — and they're not ready to give up.
