'Organized Chaos': Inside a Flood Rescue You Won't Forget

When floodwaters hit Center Point, Lt. Joe Rodriguez and Andy Creech didn't hesitate — they launched their boat into water moving at 120,000 CFM, faster than anything they train for. In nearly 12 hours, they pulled 8 people to safety, including a family of six and a girl who had been clinging to a tree in the middle of the river since 4 in the morning. They call it "organized chaos" — moments where the engine failed mid-river, where one rescuer jumped between boats in raging current, where instinct took over and there was simply no time to think. These are the stories you don't always hear about.
