Coravelle Ranch Evacuates 65 Horses As Floodwaters Rise

A horse breeding and rehabilitation ranch near the Guadalupe River went from dry to four feet of standing water in less than an hour — and the damage could top $1 million. Coravelle Ranch, open just three years, says Sister Creek backed up into the property when the Guadalupe ran too high to drain, and there was almost no time to react. Sixty-five of the ranch's 120 horses were evacuated to a nearby property, and the rest were moved to higher ground. Now, volunteers have shown up — just like they did after last year's flood — to shovel mud and help the ranch rebuild. This is Texas.
