Is Fiesta About to Cost You More?

San Antonio's proposed budget includes a plan to make major Fiesta events — like the Battle of Flowers, Fiesta Flambeau, and Taste of New Orleans — cover half the cost of city police presence. That's about $710,000 a year the city says it's not getting back. Right now, NIOSA is the only event that fully reimburses the city for those officers. So what does that mean for you? Well, the Fiesta Commission president says the extra costs could lead to higher ticket, food, and beverage prices — but nobody's named a number yet.
