Man arrested for shooting 19-year-old during fight on North Side, San Antonio police say

Records: Victor Castro-Aponte charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon

SAN ANTONIO – A 42-year-old man was arrested for shooting a 19-year-old during a fight on the North Side last week, according to San Antonio police.

Victor Castro-Aponte is charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and failure to identify to a peace officer.

The shooting happened just after noon on Wednesday in the 6900 block of San Pedro Avenue.

San Antonio police said the two men were in a physical altercation, and Castro-Aponte left the scene in a vehicle. He returned on foot and shot the 19-year-old from behind, police said.

Castro-Aponte ran off, and the teen was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Castro-Aponte was arrested on Saturday and he is currently in the Bexar County Jail with an ICE detainer. Records show his pre-hearing is set for June 4.
