Pedestrian killed in DWI-related incident, SAPD says

Driver charged with intoxication manslaughter in fatality on San Pedro Avenue

SAN ANTONIO – A 50-year-old man was hit and killed Tuesday night by an SUV driven by a suspected drunken driver, police said.

The victim was walking around 11:30 p.m. on a sidewalk in the 9600 block of San Pedro Avenue when a Ford Expedition hit him, police said.

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

The driver of the Expedition, James Kearns, 37, was arrested on an intoxication manslaughter charge.

Kearns is being held in the Bexar County Jail in lieu of $75,000 bail.
