Man found dead with stab wound at West Side bus stop, SAPD says

Incident occurred around 9:20 a.m. near West Poplar Street, North Zarzamora Street

SAN ANTONIO – A man was found dead from a stab wound at a West Side bus stop early Monday morning, according to San Antonio police.

Officers were called for a welfare check on a man around 9:20 a.m. at a bus stop near West Poplar Street and North Zarzamora Street, not far from Woodlawn Lake.

According to police, officers arrive to find a man with a stab wound to the chest. Emergency crews worked on the man, but he was pronounced dead, police said.

A motive for the stabbing is not currently known. SAPD said they have detained at least two people, including a man at a nearby Dollar Tree at Culebra Road and Zarzamora, but they do not know if the two people are suspects yet.

The man killed is believed to be in his 30s. His name has not yet been released.

The San Antonio Police Department and EMS both responded to the call.

The investigation is ongoing, police said.
