SAN ANTONIO – San Antonio police arrested two men who they say robbed two restaurants late Monday night.
Mimi's Cafe at the Rim near Interstate 10 and Loop 1604, and Hills & Dales Ice House near Loop 1604 and Babcock Road were both targeted within 30 minutes of each other, investigators said.
Police believe two men were waiting outside Mimi's after it closed around 10:40 p.m. Someone walked out and the suspects walked in.
They reportedly stole $2,000 to $3,000 from the wait staff and took about 30 credit cards that had been kept from customers who may have forgotten them, police said.
About 20 minutes later, police believe the same two men robbed customers at Hills & Dales.
Investigators said they took cell phones, purses, ID's, credit cards, alcohol, cigars and an unknown amount of cash.
Police received a tip and were able to track the suspects to a home in the 200 block of Precious Road on the West Side.
Officers were staking out the home when an SUV left. Officers pulled over the driver and said they found cash inside the vehicle and arrested the driver and passenger.
Police are still in the process recovering evidence from the home on Precious Road.
Investigators said they are trying to determine if the suspects were involved in other restaurant robberies earlier in the week.
