Consumer Reports tests interior paints

One-coat paints save time, money

Consumer Reports put dozens of interior paints to the test to see how well they cover in one coat.
Testers also tried to wash off a greasy mixture to see how well the paints resist stains. The cheapest paint, Color Place from Walmart, did not clean nearly as well as the best paints.
For interior painting, Consumer Reports said the best finish to use is satin or eggshell for most walls.
Among satin paints, Benjamin Moore Aura Satin got the highest score, but it costs more than $60 a gallon.
For about half the price, Behr's Premium Plus Ultra Satin Enamel from The Home Depot performed just about as well.

Both are self-priming, saving time and money.
