Kung Fu discipline for any size, shape

Wing Tsun teaches quick self-defense strategies

SAN ANTONIO – It's a diverse group of students who practice at Si-Fu William Parker's Wing Tsun Kung Fu class.

Many are long-time martial arts students. Others are new to the art.

His self-defense discipline uses easy to apply methods to escape attack, no matter your shape, size, age or physical condition.

Master Parker explained that the whole idea is to react quickly and not stop until it's over in about 30 or 40 seconds.

He said, "There's always someone who's going to be larger and stronger. How are you going to realistically defend yourself?  Disengage and it's a one-round deal."

Students in his class like Aaron Saadi are believers.

He's been taking classes since October and said, "I love it.  It's very easy to learn.  It's the first martial arts I've ever taken in my life that literally doesn't require any strength."

Parker says Wing Tsun teaches economy of motion, quick precision, and to use the strength of your opponent against him or her.

He says it's like a sailor using the wind.

His classes take place at 1308 Austin Highway Suite 400.
