SAN ANTONIO – A San Antonio businesswoman was recently featured in Cosmopolitan for Latinas Magazine, as a recipient of one their "Fun Fearless Latina" awards.
Magaly Chocano, CEO and founder of Sweb Development, began her business in San Antonio just over four years ago, and was the first creator of a mobile app builder for businesses.
Chocano, a native of Madrid, Spain, said she moved to San Antonio to study Communications at The University of Texas - San Antonio, when she decided to pursue a career in technology.
"I don't have a technology background, and actually, what I wanted to do when I started my business four and a half years ago was learn about technology," Chocano said. "So I kind of threw myself in as a web development company at first."
Chocano said her company has now grown to a successful digital marketing agency, doing everything from web design, to social media marketing.
Because of the impact she has had in her field, she is featured in the Summer issue of Cosmo For Latinas magazine.
"I got an email that said, hey you've been selected as one of the Fun, Fearless Latinas for this year, and congratulations," Chocano said. "So it was a real surprise."
About a dozen other honorees were also selected for contributions in their given fields and were recently recognized at an event in New York City.
In addition to running her own company, Chocano is also a wife and mother to two children.
