Senior Airman Andrew Lira sentenced to six months confinement

SAN ANTONIO – A former Air Force military training instructor at JBSA-Lackland was found guilty Friday in connection with an Air Force sex scandal.

Andrew S. Lira was found guilty in a court-martial of having unprofessional relationships with one basic trainee and seven technical training students, adultery and obstructing justice.

A military judge sentenced Lira to six months confinement; hard labor without confinement for 30 days; reduction in rank to E-1 (Airman Basic); and forfeiture of $1,200.

Lira's court-martial is the 23rd conducted in connection with the scandal.
