Girl, 6, killed in shooting laid to rest

Jennilynn Montana killed at her home on May 18

SAN ANTONIO – Family and friends remembered the life of a 6-year-old girl who died from an accidental shooting.

Jennilynn Montana died on May 18. She was laid to rest on Tuesday.

Police investigators said she and her 8-year-old sister were playing with a gun when it went off.

"She was just a little angel that God took away," said Rosie Gomez, who identified herself as a relative of Jennilynn's. "She is blessed and in good hands, may God be with her. I'm going to miss her very much."

Child Protective Services had been called to Montana's home on five occasions. Four of the calls were unfounded, but one of the calls had been undetermined, so CPS had begun services.

According to relatives, the 8-year-old sister has been safely placed with her grandmother and will remain there until the investigation is complete.
