IDs released in mother, daughter murder-suicide

SAPD: Hilda Gonzalez, 61, fatally shoots daughter

SAN ANTONIO – The Bexar County Medical Examiner's Office has released the names of two women who were found dead in an apparent murder-suicide Sunday morning inside an East Side home.

The medical examiner said 37-year-old Hilda Gonzalez died from a gunshot wound to the head.

Her 61-year-old mother, also named Hilda Gonzalez, died from a gunshot wound to the head as well.

The medical examiner ruled the daughter's death as a homicide while the mother's death was ruled as a suicide.

According to a San Antonio police report, officers were called to the home in the 1300 block of Delaware Street by a man who had not heard from the women in days and saw their vehicles parked outside the home.

Officers arrived and noticed a foul odor coming from the home, but the door was barricaded from inside.

San Antonio firefighters were called to assist officers and one had to crawl inside the home to remove a board that was placed against the front door.

Officers gained entry and found the two women lying next to each other in a bedroom, a police report stated.

A small revolver that appeared to be used in the incident was on the floor next to the bed.

Police determined the mother shot and killed her daughter before turning the gun on herself. Authorities believe they had been dead for a few days.
