Woman killed in violent crash
The accident happened on W. Commerce St. near Military Dr.
SAN ANTONIO – A woman was killed early Sunday morning when the car she was a passenger in crashed on the city's West Side.
Police said the driver was traveling west on Military Drive around 3:30 a.m. when he lost control of the car and jumped a curb.
The impact wedged the car between a guardrail and a tree.
Fire crews were called out to the scene and had to detach the roof from the car and pull the passengers out.
The woman was pronounced dead in the ambulance and the driver was transported to University Hospital in critical condition.
The driver is expected to be tested for alcohol and could face intoxication charges.
