Drowsy drivers cause pair of wrecks across SA

SAN ANTONIO – San Antonio police said a pair of drowsy drivers caused separate crashes across the city.

The first crash was reported just after 11 p.m. Tuesday on Northeast Loop 410 near Space Center Drive.  

Police said the driver fell asleep and his truck veered to the left before it struck a barricade.

SAPD officials said he was transported to San Antonio Military Medical Center in serious but stable condition.

Another driver was hospitalized after police say he also feel asleep at the wheel.

Police said he was headed south on Interstate 35 when he lost control of his car near Southwest Military Drive. 

The vehicle went through the median and across the access road before it struck four cars at a used car lot, police said.

He was transported to the hospital to be evaluated, but was expected to be OK, police said. 

SAPD officials did not say whether he would face any charges.
