1 dead, 1 wounded in drive-by shooting

Shooting was reported just before 3 a.m. in 2500 block of Austin Highway

SAN ANTONIO – One man is dead and another was critically wounded in an overnight drive-by shooting, San Antonio police said Monday.

The shooting was reported around 3:30 a.m. in the 2500 block of Austin Highway, not far from Walzem Road on the city's Northeast Side.

Police said when they arrived at the scene they found Delvonte Deon Kirk, 19, of California, dead and another man with gunshot wounds.

According to police, the victims were riding in the same car when another vehicle pulled up along side them. That's when, police said, someone inside the vehicle started firing before driving away from the scene.

At this time the police are not sure what led to the violence. They did say they also found a gun inside the victims' car.

The injured man was taken to San Antonio Military Medical Center for his injuries in extremely critical condition.

No arrests have been made so far.
