SAN ANTONIO – A man accused of being an imposter landlord is on the run after police let him go.
Police said 42-year-old Joseph Mendez is wanted for felony theft. Mendez stole thousands of dollars from families by renting a condemned Southeast Side apartment complex he did not own.
Police said they could only bring Mendez in Monday for outstanding traffic warrants, and by the time police got a new warrant Tuesday morning, he was gone.
The 40 occupants have until the end of Wednesday to leave the complex.
