SAN ANTONIO – The suspect who fatally shot another man in the parking lot of a Texas Land & Cattle Steak House on Monday night was “lying in wait” for the victim, according to a San Antonio Police Department report.

Police said Ricondo pulled into the restaurant parking lot, located at 60 NE Loop 410, around 10:15 p.m. Monday.

Ricondo walked around his van and re-entered on the passenger side and sat in the middle row.

The victim, 39-year-old Anthony Rangel, pulled into the parking lot and parked next to the van.

Rangel got out of his vehicle and opened the rear door of Ricondo’s van, police said.

Police said Ricondo apparently yelled something at Rangel, and he closed the door.

Rangel ran back to his vehicle and was leaving when Ricondo fired several shots into the vehicle, police said.

Police said Rangel was wounded and crashed into two other vehicles in the parking lot before coming to a stop.

A woman was a passenger with Rangel and was not injured, police said. Rangel was transported to the hospital, where he later died, police said.

Officers at the scene said Ricondo told them that Rangel had broken into his van, and he fired at the victim as he attempted to flee the scene.

SAPD investigators determined Ricondo was waiting for Rangel, and he was not in any danger when he fired on the vehicle.
