American Airlines adds nonstop service from SA to Philadelphia

Daily nonstop flight begins Feb. 15

SAN ANTONIO – American Airlines officials announced Wednesday that the airline will add a daily nonstop flight from San Antonio International Airport to Philadelphia International Airport beginning Feb. 15.

Officials with the City of San Antonio Aviation Department said American Airlines' new flight, which will utilize its 128-seat Airbus A319 aircraft, will depart SAT at 7:35 a.m. and arrive in Philadelphia at 12:15 p.m. The flight will then depart Philadelphia at 6:35 p.m. and arrive back to San Antonio at 9:31 p.m.

“We currently only have one other airline serving the Philadelphia market on a seasonal basis, so this is exciting news that underscores American Airlines’ commitment to the growing demand in our market,” San Antonio Aviation Director Russ Handy said.

In addition to the announcement of the Philadelphia flight, San Antonio International Airport also added 17 new flights from four different airlines in the last 18 months, which came after the airport's August statistics showed a 14th consecutive month of growth and record-breaking passenger volume.

Officials said tickets to Philadelphia will go on sale this weekend.
