SAPD: 5-year-old girl found abandoned, tied up

SAN ANTONIO (AP) – Authorities in San Antonio are investigating why a 5-year-old girl was left tied up and abandoned behind a fast-food restaurant.

The girl was found near the intersection of Risgby Avenue and South W.W. White Road.

Police Sgt. Patrick Day says authorities received a call about 2:30 a.m. Friday from a drug store employee who spotted the child alone behind a nearby Burger King.

Police have tracked down the girl's father who says she'd been in the care of her mother, who is his estranged wife. The child has been reunited with her father. Her mother's whereabouts aren't immediately known.

The girl had marks on her wrists consistent with being tied up but police say she is otherwise not hurt. Day says investigators are looking into whether any charges will be filed against whoever abandoned her.
